Thought occurred to me as I read here--someone (or several someones) needs to develop a search engine sprecifically designed to identify much needed information about black people and people of color, & especially taking care to be inclusive of non-western countries and cultures in addition to "minorities" in Western cultures.

I bet such an investment could accomplish a number of desirable outcomes:

1) Expand knowledge of cultural, political, and economic policies from the perspective of non-Western countries and POC in Western countries as well..

2) Fill in the empty or nearly empty spaces of knowledge of and about people and cultures outside the sphere of the West.

3) Encourage the study and development of knowledge of differences it is essential for us all to know and understand. (Keeping in mind that difference does not equal "less than").

4) De-center whiteness.

... and likely a whole lot of other good stuff.

Of all people, physicians and other medical personnel as well as pscyhiatrists and therapists (not to mention teachers and multiple other professions that need such knowledge) need to broaden their understanding of the slant they have developed based on their own experience of whiteness.

EQUALITY does not = "the same as."
